Flax Seed Powder

Privacy policy

Flax seed powder is a great way of enjoying flax seed because it is so easy to blend into all sorts of food. You can add it to the dough when you bake bread, it will taste great in cup cakes, and a few dashes of flax seed powder will turn your ordinary smoothie or shake into a highly nutritious treat. Some manufacturers even add extra vitamins and minerals to their flax seed powder to increase the nutritional even farther. You should however keep in mind that de-fatted or partly de-fatted flax seed powder is different from ground flax seeds, because ground flax seed contains plenty of flax seed oil. When oil is removed from flax seed to make flax seed powder, important Omega 3 fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins can be lost.

Flax seed powder recipe: ingredients

  • 2 cups of almonds
  • 1 cup of walnuts
  • ½ to ¾ cup of flax seed powder
  • 3 cups of fresh cherries without the seeds
  • 1½ cup of raisins

Flax seed powder recipe: instructions

  • Place almonds and walnuts in a food processor and grind them together.
  • Remove the mix from the food processor and put it a big bowl.
  • Place the cherries in a blender and turn them into liquid.
  • Add the flax seed powder to the cherries and blend well on high speed.
  • Add the cherry blend to the nut-mixture in the big bowl.
  • Spread the mix over a Teflex-lined dehydrator tray. The mixture should be around inch thick.
  • Leave to dehydrate at 100°F for roughly 12 hours.
  • Flip the tray, remove the Telfex and put the bar mix back for 12 more hours of dehydration.
  • Cut the dry mixture into roughly 18 pieces to make flax seed powder bars.
